The Night that Rozzi Danced

What a wonderful opportunity it was to see my childhood friend dance. Ros Warby (Rozzi to me) is cited as one of Australia's leading dancer-choreographers.

It was a treat to drive into New York City with my dear friend and her daughter (who happens to be one of Flossy’s dear friends), to see Ros perform Monumental - an award-winning solo performance that incorporates film projection and solo cello.

Joy it was to sit with her mum. Somebody who once upon a time would have bounced me on her knee (about 40 plus years ago that is) and as I sat I became mesmerized by Ros and her fluid movements yet in my mind I was back sitting with my friend…the one with long pigtails and long bangs (fringe) and it felt like a life time ago. A time where life was simple and we were all so innocent, wrapped up in our own little worlds of dolls, dance and dreams.

Seeing first hand how Ros has fulfilled her dream made me joyful to the core.

I shed a little tear for time passed and worlds that have gone different places but that same tear was also one of great happiness. To think I was lucky enough to be in New York City when my childhood friend came to town to dance.

Max and Memorial Day

Dressed in his appropriate Memorial Day regalia, Max requested the one and only DVD that one should watch on a special American Day!

Campaign of Life

Ok so I am going to knock all your socks off....I actually did some art for me!

Appropriately made today on Memorial Monday while Neil heaved soil and timber into the back yard and Max tried to help..........

When telling Neil about the art challenge, I was "lucky" enough to receive a detailed summary of the meaning behind medals, ribbons, stars and so on. What struck a chord for me was that each medal/ribbon generally represents a Campaign.

So I decided that when the time comes....I should be decorated with the Campaign of Life Award.

Consisting of a glittery heart...because I am known to wear my heart anywhere but inside and covered up! A cross because my faith keeps me on the straight and narrow (and believe me some days it is pretty narrow!) and then a simple statement that I do hope to be true: She Gave Back. The blue ribbon represents the fact that I think we all come first in our race and the gold star because I am a lover of gold stars and growing up I didn't really ever get that many...which brings me to the fact of really how hard is it to give somebody agold star?

Not hard at all and yet, it can have such a profound effect on the receiver. The lace is a "find" from Elephant Trunk, the heart, cross and pendant originally from my dear E.

Missing my kids this week as we have a one week break. They have shared their stories, they are united by a common bond and in some small way I do believe that the team I am working with have touched the hearts of these young people who have lost so much, too soon.

Happy Mother's Day

This is one of my all time favourite photos.

My mum, my sister, my Nanny (my mum's mum) - they had just had Yum Cha (Dim Sum) for Mother's Day about 5 years ago. I love the way my sister has her hands on Mum and Nanny's knees.

Have a Happy Day and for those back home, I hope you were spoilt like me. Pilsbury dough rolls, smoked salmon, capers and Wow Wow Wubbzy on the TV!

HAPPY J MAN DAY

I just love this photo. It speaks volumes about Christmas 2008. A time where the J Man was just so very happy to have all his family around him, to do craft with his Aunty, play with his cousins and to decorate trees. I hope your birthday box arrives. It was going to be T Man's birthday box but your Aunty didn't get her act together so now...well it is a box of a whole lot of goodies gathered over the past 4 months and sent with lots of love and kisses. Enjoy!

Skype - The Good The Bad The Ugly

The Good: The joy on the faces of my parents as they said hello to us all this week. With a little tweaking we had a lovely time saying Hi Gaga Hi Granny. Of course as Skype promises, we felt like we were in the kitchen at home with Papa in his singlet and undies, Gran had just washed her hair and the gluggy porridge sitting on the bench.

The Bad: Gran being able to see my bad hair day and reminding me that a hair cut would be good.

The Ugly: Mighty Max discovering the meaning of time differences when at 10am our time he was told Gaga and Granny were asleep and no amount of screaming Wake Up Gaga at the "puter" seemed to work.
